It has many interesting ideas, but they are mostly executed poorly. There's a huge variety of ways you could equip your ships, but finding a place to buy the actual modules is a chore. The game is "open world" except there's very little to do outside of the story missions, but if you only do the story missions the difficulty will be way too hard as you near the end. This is my Review of Star Wolves 3: Civil War.SW3:CW is a non-direct Sequel to SW2 which... had its flaws.You start the game off and get instantly Asked what kind of Skill-Tree you want to follow, note that this is a Permanent selection, each of the Tree's is balanced out enough, but still there "Rocket Salvo" which when Skilled to max extent, will not only let your Pilots shoot rockets at an INSANE rate, but it also affects Big Guns/Small Guns and other types of Weaponry.Which makes the game very Easy in fact, you can take down several Battleships in just a couple of Seconds with the right Weapons, not even including Modded Weapons. (Full Plasma + Endgame Rocket Salvo = Ez Win).But as the Difficulty of the game rises as you go further down the Storyline that doesn't matter most of the time, but theres still the side effect that you feel like a Superhero at endgame.Many People are talking about how Linear this game, and... yes. it is, but what can you expect some small group of Ex-Modders is able to do?, and yes. The Development Team of this Game is a Group of EX Modders, please take that into consideration when you (reader) also want to make an Review of this Game, you can't go too harsh on em.OVERALL PRO'S & CONTRA'S OF THE GAME -----------------------PRO: -Fun and Challanging Game if you have Played Star Wolves 1 and are familiar with this Style of Gameplay-Neat and Quite Useful "Realtime Pause" Feature, which reminds of Baldurs Gate-Easy Moddability, which lets you almost change every Aspect of the Game, from Weapon PFX/SFX to Whole new Sectors with Systems, although it could have been a bit more, the unlocked files in the game data folders are doing its job.-Although not so active anymore, still has a very Friendly Community and the people over at 1C Company Forums in the SW Thread are always willing to help-Due to a wide array of Available Weapons & Rockets this game allows the Player many Tactical Choices-OK Graphics-HIdden Stashes & Eastereggs to find.CONTRA:Uses LUA4.1 which is severely Outdated, even for a 2010 Game (Since LUA5.0 was available at that time)-Outdated Engine and Poor Optimization, this game goes down to the knees everytime there is a Scripted huge fight going on (Several of the Ending Fights often go down to 20-15 FPS because of that)-Balancing Problems (Example: Rocket Salvo 4)-A Bit of boredom in Freetime: This game has made an attempt to fill the universe by increasing Random events and random encounter by a huge percentage than it was in the last game, but they will get boring quickly since most of the time it is the same thing over and over again, there is only very little stuff todo if you are Freeroaming and not grinding Missions-Although the game got patched on the usual occasion, the are still Story breaking bugs present in the game, but they are not consistent, they will often happen at random due to the Script Code not being able to keep up with what a Player has done or not done-VERY Limited Freedom: This game has you on the Leash, I mean it almost literally, there are extremely many occasions where you as the Player need to do what the Mission and Story tells you EXACTLY or the Game will Blow your Ship up and tell you its Game Over.As Much as I like and Love this game, there are far more Negative things in it than Positive, but I would still Recommend it, I don't know why, but this game is just too much fun sometimes.One Last Note: If you are New to this Game and would like to try it out, heres a ProTip: Save. SAVE OFTEN. SAVE EXTREMELY OFTEN, because the game will eventually get the jump on you and RNG will take you out. and also: Go to the 1C Forums and try out some Mods for the Game, its worth it.Nocalora out. Fine space RPG/strategy. Advantages: nice combat mechanics with Dragon Age-style active pause; highly customisable ships; decent story. Disadvantages: apart from several choises, game is very linear; ending is somewhat disappointing, the story doesn't look finished.I played original Russian version, so I don't know about quality of English translation and voice acting. Russian voice acting is good.Conclusion: just another game about space combat. Buy it if it's on sale.. ITS SO ♥♥♥♥ING AWESOME! Interesting missions Charismatic characters Awesome gameplay where RPG, RTS are mixed,Pretty good story for RTS. However, there are some problems.Game crushs sometimesThere is bad optimization in cutscenes for monitors with 16/9 resolution.. A great game and really one of a kind. It has elemnts of RPG, RTS, space simulation, lots of exploration, intresting and complex plot. And for this price it's not even a bargain, it's a steal.. such wolves, much game, wow. This is a great game. This was the best of the trilogy. Absolutely brilliant. Controls are a little funky but once you get used to them, it fits.You can think of the star wolves series a lot as a squad based homeworld.. Got killed in Cutscene. 10/10
